Reading
Streets follows the Response to Intervention (RTI) model to help you meet the
instructional needs of all children. It offers a process that monitors
children’s progress throughout the year so you can support on-level and
advanced children and identify struggling readers early. More support is in the
Response to Intervention Kit, which address the five core areas of reading
instruction: phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension.
As you work with struggling readers in small groups, you can use the kit for
additional teacher modeling, more scaffolding, and multiple opportunities for
practice. You have the strategies and tools you need to prevent these children
from falling behind.
Check out this link that shows how they link Reading
Streets with Response to Intervention (RTI)
Pearson’s RTI solutions are manageable, aligned, and
expedient to address the needs of all students. Interventions on Reading Street
are highly targeted and employ the same research and methodologies that power
the core.
I highly recommend creating your classroom account by going
to www.pearsonsuccessnet.com The
access code for this should be with your reading kit. If you’re not sure please
see me or a Reading Coach.
You can assign your kids in your classroom the On Level,
Below Level or Advanced level readers to the children to read on their own at
home or use in centers during your 90 minute block. The readers can be accessed
online through the website and the children can track the print while it reads
the story word by word to them. There are add’l resources in the online
Teachers Edition that you should take advantage of.
